Beginning April 2, 2000
Big New Service On The Big Blue Bus.
More Days, More Places, More Often!

Starting April 2, we're improving service on the lines you use the most. The Big Blue Bus can now get you where you want to go faster and more conveniently than ever. Some lines run more often, some have more stops, and some actually have fewer – to make your ride an express experience. Look for new schedules which will detail the specific changes.

Here's how it all lines up:

Line 3 – Lincoln Blvd. – Montana Ave.
We've increased frequency in the evening and offer later service to the Metro Green Line.

    Line 5 – Century City

This line has been re-aligned for greater convenience. Now you can travel from Pico Rimpau Transit Center directly to downtown Santa Monica via Olympic Blvd. Service to the Veterans Hospital is now offered on Line 13. We've added frequency during rush hours and increased the weekend service.

    Line 9 – Pacific Palisades
Route9.jpg

We've adjusted Line 9, maintaining a direct route from Pacific Palisades to downtown Santa Monica. We've also increased overall frequency and service on weekends to make your trips more convenient. The new schedule improves on-time service, and school-day service to Sawtelle is still available. Service on Olympic Blvd. is now offered by Line 5.

Line 10 Freeway Express – Santa Monica – Downtown LA
Route10.jpg (180773 bytes)

By popular demand – Sunday service is now available! We’ve also increased both the frequency during evening rush hours and the evening service. Note the route change to Patsaouras Transit Plaza, east of Union Station: The Big Blue Bus will stop at bus bay #1; you can now connect easily to other transit systems such as MTA, Metrolink and LA DASH.

Line 13 – Cheviot Hills – Veterans Hospital
Route13.jpg (204799 bytes)

We've improved the route, increased the time span of service, and offer more service all day. New route changes take you where you want to go when you want to go there:

  • Morning rush hours
Westbound commuter buses take you from Pico Rimpau Transit Center to Cheviot Hills and on to the Veterans Hospital.
Eastbound commuter buses take you from the Veterans Hospital to Century City and on to the Pico Rimpau Transit Center.

  • Afternoon rush hours
Buses travel opposite routes.
  • Midday and weekends
The shuttle provides continuous service between the Veterans Hospital and Westside Pavilion.

Introducing Super 7, our newest express line. Fewer stops. Faster service.

    Line 7 – Super 7 - Pico Boulevard
Route7.jpg (167398 bytes)

During weekday rush hours, our new, streamlined service, the Super 7, only stops at major transfer intersections and at SMC on Pico Blvd. between downtown Santa Monica and Pico Rimpau Transit Center. Look for the Super 7 sign in the bus windshield and information at Super 7 bus stops to reach your destination faster.

The original Line 7 service will continue to stop at all regular bus stops. We've made schedule adjustments to improve on-time performance all day, added more service in the morning, and now offer an even later evening service.

Check our new schedules for specific details on route service changes effective April 2.
